Kids Love Mice

We did it. Finally did it. Disneyworld. Seems like we just got back home, but my dusty old blog says otherwise. One whole month...gasp! I did notice some interesting things though, like how all the rail thin folks had European accents and if it is hot enough an unbelievable amount of people have no qualms about paying $17 for a cheap, it-had-to-be-Made-in-China personal fan that sprays water. I took quite a few pictures like this one

and Mr. Lipstick and I basked in the joy of the kids enjoying all the wonders for the first time. Pretty Girl adored Pluto and Mickey and Minnie. JBB loved the Tower of Terror and meeting the Power Rangers. They both loved Epcot, especially the slooooooow boat ride through the greenhouse. Who knew?

This was my third trip to The Magic and its associated lands. Ahhh...it is still great. I can't wait to go back. I really think I could be one of Those People. We know them. You probably do too. They are the people who go to Disneyworld EVERY YEAR. It's tucked in there with all the majors...Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving...Disney. I totally want to be one of those people now. I can't wait to go back for more fun. It's like I have unfinished business. Sign me up for the I-come-down-here-so-much-that-I-better-get-some-kind-of-discount deal. I just don't wear clothes with mice on them. Ever.

Since we visited during the arguably oppressive heat of the first week of July, it was quite entertaining to see how the masses dressed for the heat. Most notably, thousands of people wore flip flops and I would estimate that less than 0.5% of them had a pedicure. I wore my trusty Eliza B's one day (thank you Sally Hansen cuticle remover), but you know what-sneakers are way more comfortable.

Have you seen Jersey Shore? I would have sworn that Mike the Situation, Pauly D, JBB, and I were in line for Tower of Terror together.

It was all so authentic...the hair, the big ass watch. The Situation was even wearing a wifebeater, baggy shorts, white flip flops (pedicure probable). Oh, and the piece de resistance...the requisite gold chain rested delicately upon an around-the-neck tat which spelled "family" in ye olde English font.

Giggle...I love the people watching. I am not sure if The Situation was watching anyone other than periodic glances at his own reflection, but if he saw me he would probably wonder on type of farm in the deep South did everyone wear pink and green.

Vacations are fun and wonderful. My gaze on life stays hazy, muted, soft. Vacation hangover leaves me tired, lazy, and seriously worn out. Don't even get me started on unpacking. Wait a minute. I just got myself started on that. Coming home with clean clothes (thank you condo) is still tiring when you bring quadruple what you actually need. I would have been great in the steamer trunk days. Why do I do this to myself? I am not sure why I think that we might need three play outfits plus swimwear plus casual clothes plus dressy clothes all in one day. Times 7 days. I packed like we were never coming home. I need a class, a seminar, or maybe a beating. Perhaps A&E has a reality show in there along with Obsessed, Hoarders, or Intervention. It could be called Packers. I digress.

It feels nice to be sitting on the couch with my laptop. Hugs to Nomers, MiZpHit, and Misplaced Rebel. Thanks for asking.

I hope you all are well. I have a lot of catching up to do. I am looking forward to reading. Currently listening to KD Lang's version of Hallelujah...it is a great one. I am feeling pretty Hallelujah-ish myself.
(by the way, this video is from 2006 and she hugs Leonard Cohen at the end. Cool.)

Oh my...this post got me out of lurkdown, having just returned from a condo stay in O-Town last week myself, also to visit the Mouse. The packing part has me in tears because your take on it is hilarious, and because I'd be on episode #2 of that show! Glad you had a good break!

P.S. I got a pedicure :) and wore cute new flip-flops the entire day through Epcot b/c I don't "do" sneakers, but I agree - flip flops x 8 hours in a Disney park was not a good combo!

I always over pack because I never know what I am going to feel like wearing...nor do I know how much weight I might lose or gain while on vaycay!

Not only will my kids be going for the first time they will be flying there oh and there is that little thing of my little miss getting to meet Cinderella in her castle for breakfast!! Not sure who will be more excited:)

Oh and I am bad about packing it has taken me 6 yrs to the beach to almost have it figured out-almost. and yes even though I come home with clean clothes it sucks to unpack

Hey Sweetie,

Glad "Lipstick" is back. And you get that packing thing honest. Once before you were born, Daddy Lipstick and I went to a resort. We had to dress for dinner. I packed him 14 ties. I can't believe I just told your readers that!!!

Welcome back--sounds like quite an adventure.

I haven't been to Disneyworld in years, but have a feeling with the kids getting older, that my return will be sooner rather than later.

I love JBB liking the Tower of Terror *and* the Power Rangers, and that picture of Pretty Girl is darling.

Glad to see you back. I had just gotten online to check on your status and was pleasantly surprised to see your latest post. Nice to know it was just the vacation hangover and that you had a great time. I love D-World, too, and can't wait to get my kids there. My last trip was with my Mom, Dad, brother, sister-in-law and husband. Yes, all adults! We had tons of fun.

Oh, and Mommy Lipstick's comment made me laugh out loud. How cute!

I have been a lurker for quite a while and just had to say that Hallelujah is one of the most beautiful songs ever penned.

Glad you're back!
