Please tell me there are others. There must be others like me. I have one Christmas tree that is beautifully appointed in an award-winning fashion. Well, alright it has lights and ornaments, but whatever. Our other tree...the one that graces the sunroom, the one that is visible to the entire neighborhood...is still wrapped in the protective plastic cocoon that Mr. Lipstick devised to keep it semi-dust-free in the attic. And here is where I air my dirty laundry folks: it has been that way since...Thanksgiving. Oh, yes.
I have either been going to work or coming home from work or too tired from work or too sleepy after church or going to Mommy and Daddy Lipstick's house or just bored or playing on the internet or doing laundry or thinking about what to twitter. Of course, Mr. Lipstick has already done his part. Last year he put plastic around the tree and this year he brought it down from the attic.
The two small humans around here are no help at all despite a magnificent amount of enthusiasm. Decorating this tree is actually a covert operation that must be accomplished while they are asleep. Any of you people who decorate your tree with your small children need to give me some tips because I have yet to figure out how having hundreds of small lightbulbs and glass ornaments everywhere qualifies as a safe craft project. Sorry, y'all. Maybe I'm just a little bit of a Scrooge because my tree is covered in plastic.

Hey Sweetie,
That is just too funny, because when you were here this past weekend, I asked JBB if you all had up the other tree, the one in the sunroom. He said "Oh, yes." I was really shocked that you had accomplished such a task and asked again just to be sure with a qualifying "with decorations and stuff" and again he said "Oh, yes, it's up" So I guess at least one member of the family is satisfied with the tree as is.

I know what you mean...I have nooo umph in me to put up the tree this year! Hopefully this weekend...but it's more like something I HAVE to do than what I WANT to do! Christmas is coming tooo quick! I need a few more paychecks! smile
Thanks for your well wishes on my blog...I'm feeling 90% back to "normal!" smile Happy Holidays Ms. Lipstick!
Funny! Sorry - no tips. My children almost made the tree topple over last night. We had a couple of "time-outs".
Last year, we could only half-decorate the house because the two year olds were in full destructive mode. This year things are better and we have the trees in place with only a few curious child mishaps.
I think taking the little gang to Lowes and Home Depot to touch, poke, and pull on the display trees has lessened their ethusiasm for doing the same when we finally put our stuff up after Thanksgiving.
My motivation comes in spurts this year. The inside is done, but outside isn't even started. I may just skip it this year.
As for a tip for the kids- make one tree kid friendly, and let them help decorate it. Keep the glass ornaments for the other tree and decorate that when they are not around.
Oh Miss Lipstick, have you no idea how many of us are coping with similar situations? You are not a Scrooge at all! Sending you a smile and a hug,
tp
you are too funny girl! I finally broke down and bought Macy one of those 3ft. pre-lit trees for her room that she totally got to decorate by herself and she was more than happy to let me do the "big" tree while she did hers. Hope your having a great week! I just followed you on twitter too! xoxo
I'm with you. My husband asked me this morning to go buy MORE lights and pine roping for the house. We already have the tree up and wreaths all over the front of the house. HELLO???? I have too much to do. We're done with decorating.
Bah humbug. :)
