VERY MOVING first Picture--and the contrast to the othe pic. just hit me right where it was supposed to!
Thank you for that...
Blessings to all the Veterans...and wishing them Peace and Love for ever and always!

Wow. Thank y'all for your comments. The juxtaposition of these photos spoke to me too...

the emotion that would cause a woman to lay prostrate at a gravesite is so profound to me

and then the almost obscene perversion of the holiday with the "sale" and the picture of the fake dinner party, the cavalier smiles...

That is part of the reason I am not a proponent of making Sept 11th a "holiday." Can you imagine a "Sept 11th Sale" in fifty years? Blasphemous.

Excellent post. Sad that this, and many other holidays, become lost in commercialism and the true meaning is put aside.

So true! I know this is late, but I had to comment since it irked me all day Monday about how everyone thought it was Independence Day or Veterans Day. Memorial Day is for all those who gave up their lies so we could have free lives. I did like how at the baseball game Monday we all paused at 3pm. Phew, I feel better, thanks!
