Well, Nonna and Mommy Lipstick hate the mere thought of the beach. Sand and water with waves is less appealing to them than reading old hunting and fishing magazines in a doctor's office. Daddy Lipstick is indifferent about it, I guess. I was about twenty years old before I ever saw the ocean. I remember running on the beach and splashing in the waves for the first time. It was fabulous.
Even Mr. Lipstick is not a fan. He thinks sitting on the beach is boring and hot, but most of all, he has an absolute aversion to putting on sunscreen. He wears it, but he throws a pretty mighty fit about it. Of course, I even love the smell of sunscreen. I don't feel greasy; I feel moisturized.
Thankfully, Mr. Lipstick willingly surrenders to my vacation desires. He builds sand castles and plays in the water with the kids. He lovingly provides the muscle to transport the loads of gear that we absolutely must have with us. He even tries to act happy about it. I love my Mr. Lipstick. Hmmmm....
Oh yeah, back to the swimsuits. I got the Land's End catalog this week. I know they are supposed to have the best-fitting swimsuits, but I just don't get it. I thought everything was tacky and they have no magic combo to suck in your tummy and push up your boobies. Since I may or may not be looking for those qualities in a swimsuit, I moved on to my long-time fave, Victoria's Secret. Now there is a company that understands boobies. Here's a suit that I really like.
I also love their tankinis, especially this one.
I usually end up deciding that a solid color looks classier, but in the beginning I love the suits with the patterns and bright colors. What do y'all think?

The black is my fave. I love it!! You need it!!
I picked a pattern suit last year over a more traditional solid...I have been yearning to buy a more traditional one this season. I am land locked so no beaches except when I take a vacation. I love to sit for about an hour and then i am done.
i say go for the patterned one this year.
they are both cute.
oh, how i love the beach too,
but swim suit shopping....not so much,
That black one is too cute!
The Mrs. loves the beach, and used to live a block away.
Now, we settle for visiting as often as possible. We will spend our vacation a block away from the beach this summer in Atlantic City. Neither of us actually goes on the sand, or in the water, but just like looking at it while walking on the boardwalk. It's so relaxing.
I know this is not about the swimsuits, but I see that you were totally fanatical about the Twilight series. If you go to the author's website, she has the draft of the next book, all from Edward's point of view. She got to about page 260 before someone leaked it, and she shelved it for now. But she put it up on her site so her fans can go there and read it. Free download. I finished it the the other day. Pretty darn good! Check it out if you haven't already. Midnight Sun I think is the name she has on it right now. :)
And for the swimsuits, go wild, get one with a pattern. Why not? You are only young once, right?
Love the black... the detailing is phenom!
If only I could get my boobs to look like that in the second one:)
I go for tankinis and bikinis I don't really care when we are at the beach I don't know anyone there. but I do like the pattern on the second one
Can I buy those boobies from VS? Cuz I think I'd like to own a pair.
The top one is my favourite - I am loving one pieces at the mo - espec. the really retro ones! DREADING getting into a swimming costume this summer though - haven't been in one since pre pregnancy - eeeek!
I like both, but I think the black is great! I also saw a few cute ones at J. Crew!
Totally unrelated to this post...but I saw these pics of Sly Stallone and thought of you!

Oh Slacker Mama, thank you for the Sly pics!!!! Sigh...he's so dreamy...
I like the first one!
Oh no, I shudder to even think about bathing suit season... but I do like VS ones better than Land's End. I agree with you.
