Just Not What I Wanted to Hear

Tonight after I got my babies settled in bed I curled up on the couch, ridiculously excited about wearing my flannel pj's, sitting on my comfy couch, and spending uninterrupted quality time with my laptop. I began with email and then moved on to Facebook.

Thanks to status updates and FB chat, I learned that the mother of a childhood friend lost her battle with lung cancer this morning. I last saw her at the alumni walk of my beloved high school building and I wrote about her in this post. I am just shocked.

This week has been surreal.

Thank you dear bloggy friends for all of your comments and prayers and for persevering through the gloominess of my recent posts. I am so grateful for you all.

I can really hardly believe it. She was such a vibrant, funny woman. I hadn't seen her in years, so it's extra hard to make a connection between the perky little Miss Marylou that I remember and the one that was deathly ill and is now gone. It's been a rough year for you so far, my friend - I hope you have some happy news soon. I am thinking of you.

Oh geeze Miss Lipstick, I am just *so* sorry. I remember that post clear as can be, and the photo of you all in a classroom.

It certainly has been a rugged week for you, and I wish I could do something to help ease the hurt.

I am sending you an enormous hug,
tp

I'm so sorry for your loss. And for the family as well...it's so hard to know why these things happen.

On a different note, I hadn't seen your new 'look'......because I've been a slacker and not blogging. It is ADORABLE! Love it!

So sorry, sending hugs!

I've had a few parents of dear friends pass away and it's REALLY hard (for many reasons) as they were such a big part of my past. Surrogate parents really! When my dad died 12 years ago, my best friends were so amazing! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend.
