I was fortunate to have two great prom experiences with two kind, strong, and very Southern gentlemen...all while wearing thousands of sequins. Those dresses weren't very comfortable. In fact, they were so tight that I could barely breathe, but I remember feeling so elegant and pampered that I was truly sad when it was over. I seem to have a grand fondness for sparkly dresses that compromise respiration and my very favorite is pictured below.

All Dressed Up
Thank y'all for your kind comments about my giant hair and gaudy dress. In the spirit of full disclosure, transparency, and the lively celebration of tacky things of the past, I am slightly embarrassed proud to present my junior and senior prom pictures.

Ah...sequins, the world is a much happier place with them i say! ;)
Lipstick, you are a much braver woman than I.
To this day, I'm still embarrassed about the dress I chose for my junior prom. Of course, at the time, I thought it was the hottest thing going. Just imagine: knee length mini dress, off the shoulder, purple and turquoise sequins. To top it all off, metallic turquoise ruffles around the arms. Horrendous. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to post a photo.
Awww--I love your wedding photo!
You sure did like your sequins back then!!! :)
Oh my gosh. Wow - what memories. Love the wedding photo especially. I did not have as many sequins as you for my proms but I lived and died by whatever Jessica McClintock designed in 1991 (as did many girls in my school - there were 3 of us with the same dress in different colors that year).
I wore sequins to one of my proms too! Btw, my high school's name is Rosemark as well. LOL=)
Oh sequins and prom!!
I LOVE your new (new to me at least!) blog look! It is simply fantastic!
I too love the new blog look!
How fun! Memories! I need to find some of my cira 80's photos, my hair volume is out of control! I would had given you a run for your money! ;-) I agree with Mx2, I loved Jessica McClintock and I got one prom dress at Lillie Rubin and about died of excitement...
Thanks for sharing and making me smile!
I wish sequins were still in. I used to get so happy when we'd receive our dance costumes every Spring, and even happier when mine were covered in sequins!
Ah, sequins. Although I must say sequins are much more elegant than the pink puffy sleaves I wore to my Homecoming! Ha-ha!
Goodness...prom! Scary, scary times for those of us more than 25 years of age, the old styles were just so bizarre! Yeppers on sequins!
Thanks for sharing, and BTW, your gown looks stunning in the wedding photo!
