I Love the 80s

Some fun things I found while digging through childhood treasures...

My prized sticker collection

Remember writing everything in bubble letters?

My favorite page...full of Lisa Frank stickers. Nonna and DeeDa had infinite patience with me at the mall as I perused through racks and racks of Lisa Frank stickers.

I remember putting all the stickers in this Cabbage Patch book. It just doesn't seem like it was that long ago.

I absolutely *loved* My Pretty Ponies. I felt so fancy with my carrying case and combs. I remember playing with this over Christmas break with my cousin from Chicago. We listened to Duran Duran's "Arena" and swooned over the Taylors (John, Roger, Andy...pick one).

And finally...Fashion Plates. I got this for my birthday in 1982. This was good for hours and hours of entertainment.

Oh, how I remember the Lisa Frank phase! My sticker collection was out of control. I actually managed to save all of it. I loved My Little Pony, too, but unfortunately got rid of them.

I recently gave one of my cabbage patch dolls to my daughter I even have the birth certificates from them.

I LOVED my little ponies. I totally had one of those fashion plated things. I also use to do the sticker thing, I think every little girl did.

One of my first blog posts was about Fashion Plates. It was hands down my favorite toy when I was a kid. I recently found mine at my mom's in a box with other toys. I brought it home and I'm not ashamed to say I've played with it with my little neighbor girls. :-)

Oh, the memories.... My sister and I were sticker WHORES. We didn't bother with sticker books, though. Much to my mothers despair, we plastered them all over our bedroom doors. I think the sticky remnants were there until she finally replaced the doors.

Fashion Plates RULED.

GIrl, Cabbage Patch Kids Baby Book, Sticker Books and Fashion Plates? Are we kindred spirits or WHAT? What a blast from the past and a wonderful memory. And I had pins that I would wear of Nick and Simon from Duran Duran. My love for them will never die.

Such a GREAT post. I had completely forgotten about Fashion Plates! And don't even get my started on my Lisa Frank collection! I am so mad at my mom (not mad, just disappointed) - I don't think she saved anything from our childhoods!!! I go digging in the basement and come up with nothing . . . although, on second thought, my dad is a spontaneous purger . . . maybe it's him I should be after!

OMG!!! FASHION PLATES! Loved 'em!

Do you remember the plastic charm necklaces and charms? I had so many of those! I was into Barbie - but never My Little Pony. Great pics!

Thanks for the memories. I too loved my fashion plates. A few years back I saw them in a store so I quickly snatched them up for my daughter. I couldn't wait to show her. We sat down and started creating masterpeices, except there was hardly anything on the paper. These were nothing like the originals. That was the last time they were used.
