Is the Hood Dangerous?

Thank y'all for your well wishes for my JBB! He is feeling better now, and although he wouldn't eat supper and begged to go to bed early, he is thankfully not throwing up anymore. That is a present for everyone.

After work I made a quick trip to Target to get Pretty Girl some warm clothes to wear around the house. I am so cold natured and Mr. Lipstick doesn't even like to wear a coat in the winter. The thermostat wars have begun.

I think our house is freezing, and Mr. Lipstick gags and moans if it's hot comfortable. Of course, I worry about JBB and Pretty Girl being cold. Never mind that JBB won't wear anything resembling a sweater and neither will keep socks on their little feet-I reason that I am freezing so they must be too.

Anyway, back to Target. I saw this sweet little sweater for Pretty Girl. The only thing...it has a hood, and while it is super cute, it seems a little dangerous. I mean, what if she got that sweater-hood caught on something? Am I being paranoid or does this seem like a poor design for a toddler?

And finally, here is a picture that made me cackle out loud and nearly spew Diet Dr. Pepper through my nose:
ETA: We don't actually live here....but we have been there. We opted not to get the Grillz though.

That's a cute sweater. I may have to go get one for Katie (if Phil doesn't catch me). Katie hasn't ever had any accidents with any of the hoodies she's worn, so unless Pretty Girl is a total klutz, she'll probably be safe in it.

A and E have a couple of hoodie sweaters and we haven't had any incidents.

However, we do avoid hoods on coats if we can ... since the girls wear them to the playground and the hoods getting caught on the equipment is a worry I have, too.

But for around the house wear, I dont' think it should matter.

We have that sweater and have had no problems!

The billboard cracked me up! Are you in Memphis?! I went to Rhodes and when I saw that billboard and the location I immediately thought "Memphis!"

I love the sweater. We too have not had an hood incidents. In fact, my 3.5 y.o INSISTS all jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts have a hood so her hair doesn't get cold. :)

All of my 5 kids have had hooded sweaters/jackets since they were babies- and I mean babies as in weeks old. All of them made it safely through toddlerhood without incident. Even our coats have hoods. In fact child #3 just threw a fit the other morning because she couldn't find a coat with a hood to wear. Maybe because I grew up in the north where it is freezing and *everything* has a hood to keep your ears/head warm even with your hat on. At any rate- I'd buy the sweater. :)

Is that billboard really where you live?!?! That is FABULOUS! Makes me think of that episode of the Girls Next Door when Kendra gts her own 'grill' and pimp cup. Can't blame her...just like any other white girl trying to keep it realz, yo!

Well, now I feel that perhaps I've been a slacker momma, but my children have both had sweaters or sweatshirts with hoods on them at various points in time, and they were just fine. The winter coat Daughter had with a hood had one that snaps off quite easily, so you can avoid playground hazards with it -- but I don't think the sweaters are a problem. Honestly, though, perhaps that is just because it never occurred to me to worry about them?

I have 4 nieces and a nephew. The only hazard I have seen associated with a hood was my nephew catching his sis by it in a game of tag, she was basically clothes-lined (and abruptly put on her hind parts), she got up laughing and returned chase. I'd say she was maybe two. From then on, we just stuffed it down her back for tag, and she still loves anything with a hood. But, keep in mind, in our family, non-hospital boo-boos are an acceptable part of childhood.

Cute sweater. Everytime I look over at the girl's section at Target I yearn for a little girl. (I know I would go broke!;o)

Hi! Found your blog via Happy Meals and Happy Hour. My kids have always worn hoodies, NO drawstrings, but they've always done just fine with the hoods. LOVE the billboard! TOO FUNNY!

OMG!!!!! That billboard is hysterical. Too funny!

The sweater with the hood looks darling, but obviously we're not the folks yo want advice from when it involves parenting issues!

Thanks for the billboard picture!
