I am sitting on the couch all by myself. Everyone I adore is sound asleep, and I am finally getting a chance to take in all the politics. I love politics, and I love the conventions. Two highlights for me this week...both Mama Biden and Gov. Palin are so cute and fashionable. Also, I think Beau Biden looks like Steve Carell. I have been wondering exactly how tall Michelle Obama is and why no one told her all week that she should not clap with her hands directly in front of her face.
I am just high on all the history. Barack Obama's acceptance speech on the 45th anniversary of "I Have a Dream" and John McCain selecting Gov. Palin are just almost too much for one week. This week really makes me miss Tim Russert. Why can't there be a live video stream from heaven for the next few months...at least until November or if I had my way, until the inauguration?
In other news...where are you RPh Mommy?

I am loving all the US election coverage!! Although I'm a Tory, I am obessed with Barack Obama - he has so much charisma. I have NO IDEA about who'd be a better preseident for the U.S. (even though i've studied US politics!). But he's cool, charming, and would wrap us all around his little finger! I think he'd restore the world's adoration for the US!
I totally agree-- I am LOVING this and missing Tim's coverage.
AND I cam here to ask YOU about Rph Mommmy. She simply disappeared. So weird!!!? I hope everything is ok...
I'm missin' me some Russert, too.
I think I was burnt out by the time McCain did his thing yesterday because I didn't even bother to watch the acceptance speech... which is a far cry from Monday night and FORCING Mr. AFRo to relinquish the remote so that I could hear everything Hillary said.
I did see bits and pieces on ABC's Nightline about Palin and she appears to be what's going to sway me in the end... and I'm pretty firm in my beliefs... I think she is too though.
I miss Russert terribly. I miss RPH Mommy too.
Lipstick, what's wrong with you?! McCain choosing Palin was an obvious and cheap ploy to pull disappointed Hillary supports into the "I'll vote for a woman, ANY woman" mindset.
I must admit, I was almost swayed but I started doing research on Palin. I'm not sure if your a Repub or Dem, but her beliefs are so far from Hillary's it will never work.
For one, she supports drilling in Alaska's conservatory, she's an avid hunter, and she recently approved a $150 cash incentive to Alaskans and visitors for each wolf they kill. She also (and I'm pulling this from Wikipedia) strongly objects to placing polar bears on the endangered species list because it would hurt oil and gas development in the area.
Anyway, I didn't know if you knew all this - or perhaps you did and you were still applauding his choice.
I mentioned Mr. Tim just yesterday. Not the same. Not the same at all.
Palin is one hip hip lady. For sure.
Exciting times.
Thanks for checking out my blog by the way. Love yours.

I am not even going to pretend to know as much at politics as you (or some of your commentors) but I do love how you get excited about all of it.
and... I just adored her shoes :)
My husband is way too excited about Palin. I think he'd leave me for her if he could. Me? Not sold. I'm still deciding on who I'll vote for, but its not going to be McCain solely because he picked a chick as a running mate.
I miss ol' Tim too. He'd add so much to this conversation that is sorely lacking!
"Barack Obama's acceptance speech on the 45th anniversary of "I Have a Dream" and John McCain selecting Gov. Palin are just almost too much for one week".........AMEN!AMEN!!
I am loving this election! It's very dramatic. However I think McCains choice of Palin is well played on his part. Can't wait to see what happens.
Welcome to the discussion Anonymous! Who are you?
And the fun continues with the Republican convention this week!
Whoa, settle down, "Anonymous".
My favorite surreal moment was Bill Clinton looking like he was on Ecstasy mouthing "IloveyouIloveYouIloveyou" to Hillary. WTF was THAT?
LOL Happy Hour Sue! He is too much a politi-rock star. It could only have been funnier if he had the sax with him.
I'm settled, happyhoursue. Voicing an opinion may be a "get your panties in a twist" action for you, but for me it's not.
I just think it's a cheap move on McCain's part to pick a woman. His campaign has admitted that it was a last minute decision - the night before, actually - and it's quite clear what they're trying to do. It's insulting to women everywhere to assume that they'll vote for any woman that runs and not look at their stand on the issues that are important to them.
Palin couldn't be further from Hillary - and to top it off, she majorly lacks political experience.
Hey Anon. Welcome back. McCain wasn't going to pick someone like Hillary. You know the whole she-is-a-liberal-democrat issue...kinda gets in the way at the RNC.
Obviously - that's not my point. The issue is that McCain assumes women are so easily swayed that the Hillary supporters would choose whichever woman is running, regardless of political standpoints.
LOL Anonymous! There is no proof to your assertion that McCain assumes anything. It is just rhetoric...nothing more than idle talk around the watercooler. Palin's status in AL (and AL's oil) makes his pick strategically viable regardless of gender.
Comments closed because this thread has gotten boring as hell.
Apparently when someone disagrees with your opinion, the discussion isn't so "welcome" as it is one-sided.
By the way - the abbreviation for Alaska isn't AL, unless you're referring to Alabama, in which case Palin's oil position is probably met with some confusion. Try AK.
Many thanks Brittany and Anon for correcting the state abbreviation.
Anonymous, you are not un-welcome. You are wearing me out though. So what did you think of Gov. Palin's shoes? *wink*
he he he Lipstick... I will say it again, her shoes KICKED ASS. And I will say this, I cannot stand Hillary. This election just got started for me when they pulled Palin in...so, somebody is doing something right!
