"She gossome big oh eyezzz donshee?"
(Translation: She's got some big old eyes, don't she?)
Comment regarding my eyes from a very tan (leathery) woman who had fashion rings on every finger, bright pink fingernail polish from at least a month ago, many small, random, unidentifiable tatooes, and cigarette perfume. Uncertain if her comment is a compliment.

Ooo...I hate those "statements" that you can't tell whether or not it's a compliment. Like, "Your hair has gotten so long." Uh...thanks?

You've gotta check out the tone and facial expression, that's the only way to tell! I feel like statements like that are kinda like "Well, bless her heart!" <-can totally be an insult or a sweet saying, depending on the tone and whether or not the speaker is giving a genuine smile ;) Also - where the heck were you?
I LOVE these comments, when i lived in the hood in dc a guy on the corner would always say to me, as I passed by, "Ah'd laik tah claaaaaimmmmbbb that!" (I'd like to climb that - I'm tall).
Kind of gross but kind of sweet! I don't get those comments up north heah's in nyc.
