This afternoon I turned on cable news and saw the saddest thing...Tim Russert died this morning of a heartattack at the age of 58. I think I really became a loyal fan during the 2000 election. I will never forget those white dry erase boards with the breakdown of the electoral votes. I have watched him on Meet the Press for as long as I can remember. He has always captivated me...his style of interviewing that was probing, intelligent, tough but never mean, succinct, researched, insightful, humorous even. Last week I was watching Meet the Press and I was thinking how much I was looking forward to watching him this election season. What an amazing man...such a towering talent with beautiful humility. Farewell Mr. Russert.

thanks for this lovely memorium post. i can't believe it, what a loss, just saw him on tv the other day and was thinking how interesting this election is going to continue to be. so sad.
I almost cried when I found out he'd died. It's going to be so strange to watch the Nightly News and not hear his opinions on the election. I'm sure going to miss him.
Oh my gosh, I have had one of those days where I have lacked current events info - how sad! What a nice little memoriam to him.
BTW, I finally completed the tag you gave me. Thank you for thinking of me! I love your blog and just added you to my links!
I have been cut off from the goings on in the world today. Thank you for this post. I agree with every single word and he will most certainly be missed.
I heard about it on Conan last night... Tim's son works for him. So Sad!
I freaked out when I heard the news! McDaddy and I are political news junkies, so as soon as I heard, I picked up the phone and called McDaddy then my mom....everyone was so upset. He was so young! And to pass away two days before Father's Day...oh, my heart breaks for his son.
You wrote such a touching tribute.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and your lovely comments! I just cannot believe it! What a loss! This is a sweet memorium post!
I've been watching a lot of coverage on him this weekend...and it is so sad. In addition to being an amazing news analyst, I think that he was such a loyal son and father, and such a good person in general, makes his passing all the more heart-wrenching.
The election this year will not be the same without him.
Thank you for looking after Mister Princess... the Princess Consort... my wonderful husband.
And thank you for posting this. Thank you.
TP
I was so upset, too! He was always so informative and professional, yet he seemed like such a normal guy at the same time. The election will be so weird this year without his input.
I, too, was shocked and upset when I heard the news. You did a nice job writing about him. I have enjoyed reading your blog!
