I'm A Loser, Baby...

I love Friday night...specifically the drive home from work. It is so full of promise and excitement for the weekend ahead. This weekend I have experienced the awful dichotomy of wanting to relax (do nothing) and wanting to go somewhere and have fun. This morning JBB woke me up EARLY which meant I was tired from the start, though Hubby and I did manage to have actual adult convo while the kids were playing.

My crowning accomplishment for the day was to get my brows waxed at a new wax boutique that is about 3 minutes from home. Now this makes me sound fancier than I really am, and I'm ok with that. One of my super cool pharm-mommy friends recommended it to me and they did not disappoint. Somehow even with the waxing and pulling and tweezing, it was so relaxing I almost fell asleep. The only part that really hurt was when she had to tweeze a grey hair from my right eyebrow. Yep, I said grey. That hurt, in more ways than one. Anyway, I was completely pleased and feel like my skin looks better and I look younger. (I guess not having a big grey hair coming out of your forehead will do that). Here's the before and after:

Then I came home and proceeded to take a series of naps and then a hot shower (second one of the day) and feel guilty, grumpy, and depessed because I was too tired to do anything else. Why is that? I am just tired from work. It's not weird to think that I need a day to just veg, right? Why is this lazy-ish kind of rest just not relaxing? I feel like the day is wasted because I haven't played with the kiddies very much or cleaned house or done laundry or even gone shopping. Thank goodness tomorrow is church (pre-planned activity early in the morning) so I will have a good start to the day. If all goes well (eg, I don't fall asleep), then we can go to the pool in the afternoon and I won't have another online pity party.

Your brows look fabulous. Don't feel too bad about the gray hair. You're not alone. I spent about 5 minutes this morning plucking gray hairs from the top of my head. I'm desperately trying to postpone coloring my hair for another week. I HATE getting old!

You are far from being a loser. You are just a tired mama and have every right to veg out! Don't feel guilty..ENJOY!!

Wishing you a fabulous Sabbath day.....

I LOVE having my brows done! They look great girl. Congrats to you on the "me" time. It's good for you.

There's nothing wrong with a little vegging out from time to time. Sometimes you need to do nothing so you can manage to do something later. Otherwise we'd all give out by 30.

Hooray for brow waxes! I got mine done yesterday, too. I can do without manis, pedis, massages, and facials, but I need to have a brow wax to feel at my most beautiful.

There are few things in the world as nice as having your brows done. I need to find a new place...haven't had them waxed since before MiniMe was born. Plucking at home just isn't the same.

I sympathize with the gray. Started getting lighter highlights so the grays don't stand out quite as much against my dark hair. I'll be a blonde (not a good look for me) before I go gray.

Thank you for the before and after photos! Way too cool! Never had it done and now you're my inspiration! It looks great!

BTW, there is a reason when doing the safety demo that the flight attendant says "If you are traveling with an infant or small children, PUT YOUR OXYGEN MASK ON FIRST." That would be the old "You have to take care of yourself so you can take care of them" ditty.

This is a rare and isolated instance we are witnessing: TP citing an airline as an authority on anything! (Although that's not fare to several overseas carriers, I know.)

I hope you have relaxed just a little by the time you see this!

Totally know where you're coming from. I too am a working mum and sometimes just don't have the energy to get down on all fours and play horse (my children's current fav game!)
Nothing wrong with a spot of mummy pampering. Can only help keep you sane!
On and laughed out loud when you say your son asked if you have a baby in your tummy. Ooo they're so cutting!

I understand that feeling of guilt, it's too cruel when our brains don't let us relax! You must overcome it, and I'm sure your newly waxed brows will help! They look great.

Um, I don't even have kids yet and I totally have those tired veg nights all the time! And my boyfriend has quite a few grey hairs even though he's only 24 - I don't plan on seeing my natural color for a very long time, hence the lack of greys ;)
